Texas State Pokemon Championship 2016

This past weekend, we went to Dallas to take part in Pokemon States, Texas style.

Connor and Lex wore their favorite Pokemon shirts.

They were passing out paper Pikachu party hats for Pokemon's 20th birthday this year.

Connor and Lex got to sit right next to each other during one round.

They played six rounds of Pokemon on Saturday.  Each round consisted of the best two out of three matches against an opponent.

This is the Promo Card that they received for participating.

Connor picked out a new Luxray Break play mat for his souvenir.

Lex picked out a new Mega Blaziken plushie from the vendor hall.

Connor was 3-3-0, and placed 21st.  Lex's record was 1-4-1, and he came in 43rd.  They both did very well, and I'm pleased to report that they each played every single game of every single match.  I brought lots of extra snacks for between matches, so that no one would forfeit any games out of hunger.

Mega Blaziken had something of the seat of honor for the trip home.

There were also plenty of snacks for the drive home again.

Lex loved this spicy chorizo breakfast sandwich from Starbucks. Honestly.

We stopped to play for a bit at a rest stop on the way home.  Don't worry, all the rest stops have these signs everywhere.  Because Texas.
