Dry Thunderstorm in the Desert

We have had a very dry spring so far this year, which is to be expected because we live in the desert.  We have had a few dry thunderstorms, where the air is too dry for rain to fall all the way to the ground.

We went outside after dinner to play football with the kids after dinner the other night, and there was a spectacular cloud formation in one part of the sky.  After admiring it for a minute, I realized that it was another dry thunderstorm, and since it was so nice out otherwise, it made for some really interesting photos.

The lightning lasted until well after dark, but we never did get any rain.
